Maybe it'-s similar in BC?Whether you are a sole proprietor, member of a general or limited partnership or part of a corporation, in order to establish a dealership you must:* Complete, date and sign an Application for Registration under the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act - Business Application.* Payment of $500 by cheque or money order -payable to the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council- or by VISA or MasterCard.* Complete "-First Time Business Questionnaire."-* Complete, date and sign an Application for Registration under the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act - Individual Application for each and every individual that will be involved in the operations of the dealership -sole proprietor, partners, corporate officers or directors, shareholders, salespersons, etc.- whether the individual will be buying or selling vehicles on behalf of the dealership or not.* Payment of $175 by cheque or money order -payable to the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council- or by VISA or MasterCard for each and every individual that will be involved in the operations of the dealership and will be buying or selling vehicles on behalf of the dealership.* Provide a clear and legible copy of a photo identification document for every Individual Application that is being submitted. Acceptable documents are Health Card, Driver'-s Licence or Passport.* Provide a clear and legible copy of a document proving eligibility to work in Canada for every Individual Application that is being submitted. Acceptable documents are Work Permit, Social Insurance Card, Landed Immigrant Visa, Canadian Passport (if not supplied as photo ID) or Birth Certificate.* Complete, date and sign an OPP Release and Discharge form.* Payment of $342 to the Motor Vehicle Compensation Fund by certified cheque or money order only.* Complete, date and sign a Wholesale/Leasing Affidavit, if you intend to exclusively engage in these activities without selling vehicles directly to the general public.* Fulfill OMVIC'-s Certification requirements as applicable and submit proof.In addition, you must include:* Copy of Business (Trade) Name Registration (BIN) or Master Business Licence (MBL) if you are going to operate under a business name (for example, ABC Auto Sales), which is customary for sole proprietors and general partnerships (although limited partnerships and corporations might also operate under a business name). Business name registration is done at the Ministry of Government Services -Companies Branch, 393 University Avenue, 2nd Floor, Toronto, ON, M5G 2M2. Their telephone numbers are 416-314-8880 and 1-800-361-3223. Alternatively you can register a business name online through Ontario Business Connects.* Copy of Limited Partnership Declaration or Articles of Incorporation. This requirement does not apply to sole proprietors or general partnerships.* Copy of the Municipal Permit authorizing you to operate an auto dealing business in your specific location. From those municipalities not issuing permits we require a copy of a Zoning Letter.* Submit copy of documentation showing proof of ownership of proposed business location, rental or lease agreement, or signed offer to rent or lease.* Copies of Vendor Permit (RST number) and GST Account (BN number).Please note that new applications must be submitted by mail, courier or in person. Faxed applications will not be accepted. Online registration will be available in the near future.
